Snow Leopard
This guide is from gardenofsimple – it covers the boot 132 method by (the great) Eps from the myhpmini.com forums. Thumbs up!
To all the Mini 2140 hackintoshers out there:
Enjoy!

Hey everyone! It was a hard two days but I’d like to share the way I got SL running on my HP Mini 2140 in case it can help at all. Here you go.
Things you’ll need:
SL install DVD
Blank CD
USB CD-Rom Drive
People I want to thank: EPS, MAXI, Everyone who had any part in Chameleon.
1) Download EPS’ perfect boot-132 cd from the link in this post: (thank you thank you thank you)
viewtopic.php?p=12823#p12823
2) Burn this iso using imgburn (not poweriso as in my experience it didn’t work.)
3) Reboot, press F10 to enter setup. Ensure the following:
System Configuration -> Boot Options
CD-ROM Boot: Enable
and that USB CD-ROM has higher priority than notebook hard drive in terms of boot order
SystemConfiguration -> Device Configuration
USB Legacy Support: Enable
Sata Native Mode: Disable
Insert the Boot-132 cd. Save settings and exit to reboot again.
4) Your computer will now boot isolinux from the CD. When it gives you a prompt asking for a hex device code, eject the Boot-132 CD and insert the SL install DVD. Type 9f. Press enter. Hooray! The SL installer is loading!
5) You have to ensure your system is using a GUID partition map scheme, rather than MBR or anything else. To do this, once the installer boots up, go to Utilities in the menu and choose Disk Utility. Highlight your hard drive (not any of the partitions beneath it) and press the info button which is the second from the left along the top. If it says GUID Partition Table beside Partition Map Scheme you are golden. Format the disk you want to install SL on and enjoy. If it says something else however, you have to do step 5A.
5 A) If you want to save your windows install or linux install or whatever, now would be the time to back them up to an external hard drive. Once you have done this, select your hard drive in disk utility again. Choose partition from the tabs along the top. Select the number of partitions you would like to create and specify the formats you would like for them. Before you press apply (which if I wasn’t explicit before, will erase EVERYTHING), be sure to press options at the bottom of the list of partitions and specify GUID.
6) Install SL!!!!!!!!
7) Your computer will reboot when it is finished. Nothing will happen. Do not freak out. Insert the Boot-132 cd. Power off and back on. Wait for the prompt. Insert the install DVD. Type 9f. Enter. Now your computer will boot into SL! Hooray! Suffer through horrible start up movie with even worse music. Configure things.
Download Chameleon from here:
http://chameleon.osx86.hu/articles/cham … sk-support
And as per Maxi here http://chameleon.osx86.hu/articles/cham … rt#c001587
Do the following:
1) Open terminal (Applications->Utilities)
2) type diskutil list
3) make note of your hard disk ie /dev/disk0 as well as the partition OSX is installed on ie /dev/disk0s2
4) Unzip Chameleon and open the folder
5) Back in terminal type cd and drag the i386 folder from the Chameleon finder window into it and press enter
6) Type the following two commands very carefully: (pressing enter in between obviously. also note the letter ‘r‘ in the commands below)
sudo fdisk -f boot0 -u -y /dev/rdisk0 (replace the disk2 part with your hard disk that you noted in step 3)
sudo dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdisk0s2 (replace the disk2s1 part with the partition you noted in step 3)
7) Copy boot to the root folder using command
sudo cp boot /
Download EPS’ preboot.dmg from this post:
viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1768&p=13604#p13604
Open it. In terminal type cd and then drag the Extra folder into the window. Press enter.
Copy it to the root folder using command
sudo cp -R .//
9) Disconnect USB CD-Rom if you haven’t already and reboot. Voila!
10) Use Software Update in System Preferences to update to 10.6.1.

When I try to run the second terminal command
sudo dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdisk0s2
I get resources busy.
Any ideas?

Experiencing random Kernel Panics.
Anybody else have this problem?
October 11, 2009 - 12:42 pm
Any work on how sleep is working in SL on the 2140 (HD)??
October 29, 2009 - 4:06 am
The guide worked great for me but i have some corrections for the guide:
- at 6) you wrote “not” but i think what you mean is “note”
- at 7) you wrote the last command “sudo cp ./ /” this did not work for me because its a directory, so “sudo cp -R ./ /” does the job
exept of these two points the guide workes great.
now os x works fine on my hp mini, the only thing is, it uses only usb 1.0 instead of 2.0. does anyone have i hint to get usb 2.0 finally working=
October 31, 2009 - 11:58 pm
^The 2140 does have usb 2.0 right? If the hardware is indeed usb2.0 then it might be just a question of right kexts to use. Try experimenting with IOUSBFamily.kext

what about Ethernet, this is not working for me or sleep

I keep getting kernel panics on every boot attempt. No problem booting with the Boot 132 cd and the SL install disk. What could be wrong?

Hi!
I tried to follow this guide, but the result isn’t good… i cannot finish install SL! I use SL retail dvd compressed in DVD5. Did you guys use the dvd9 version? Or other version?
July 20, 2010 - 6:08 pm
All works great until I run the Combo 10.6.2 Updater, and then everything dies and on reboot after choosing the drive in Chameleon it sits on the Apple logo.
Anyone had success by Software Update direct to 10.6.4?

After several tries I installed SL on my HP 2140. The keyboard and trackpad do not work, and also the camera. I used the NetbookMaker 0.8.3 and the retail SL DVD to make the bootable USB drive. The VoodoPS2 kexts do not seem to do anything to make the keyboard work, and a USB mouse works fine. Please help.

In my note above I meant to say that my camera also does NOT work. The WiFi is fine, and the audio works. Main issues are the keyboard, trackpad and camera. Please help.

It looks like the links got messed up, just follow the first link to the original post to get them. Also, I meant to mention: A retail CD with 10.6.3 WILL NOT WORK. It will hang at the apple logo before installation. It works with 10.6 though! Just FYI, because Apple no longer sells 10.6 CDs, just 10.6.3.
