(Had trouble with posting a rather long long guide as a separate page – not on the main blog page – so I’m just linking here)

Just placed an order for HP Mini 5150 with no XP and looking forward to installing OS X. It’ll be at least a week before I receive it. I’m a complete newbie so hoping these guides will provide some guidance! Will keep a good diary of my process and post if/when it works. Fingers crossed.

Couple of quick questions for you guys: (Installing on a 1030NR)
1) Can I just buy the $30 (USD) Retail Snow Leopard DVD from Apple and do this? (I Believe this is what you meant in Part 1). What about the Family Pack? I believe I have one more left on that from my existing Macs.
2) Have you (or anyone for that matter) heard about any problems with using an aftermarket SSD with this? I plan on swapping to a Runcore 32GB SSD at the same time and was wondering if there could be any problems at all.
Thank you for your time, Nick.

1) Yep, that’s the very thing to use. Family pack should also work – it’s just the same DVD I suppose but with official blessings from Apple to install on more than 1 computer at a time.
2) See this thread here : http://myhpmini.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=3043&start=0#p19459
Runcore SSD’s seem to have probs.

It is a very good guide. I followed it to the letter and tried it with my HP Mini 1031nr. It worked but I could not get the Wifi, Ethernet, Sound, Microphone and Sleep. Is there any fixes out there for these problems?

People/Readers:
Kindly please double check what your HP Mini model no. really is.
HP Mini 110-xxxxyy = stock wifi does not work in Snow Leopard. Stick with Leopard via iDeneb
Only the HP Mini 1000 (ex. 1001TU, 100xyy..etc) has a stock wifi card that works with Snow Leopard.

Does that include the 110-10031NR? Can I run wireless with Snow Leopard with that model? Or, can I do it by upgrading the wireless per your link to ebay?
Thanks much.
